Negros Occidental Gov. Bong Lacson led the blessing and inauguration of the provincial government-run Hinoba-an District Hospital and the municipal slaughterhouse in Hinoba-an on Thursday, April 25.

Formerly the Eleuterio T. Decena Memorial Hospital, the new hospital was relocated to its new site in Barangay Po-ok and officially renamed Hinoba-an District Hospital, a press release from the provincial government said.

The Department of Health – NIR Center for Health Development issued a License to Operate for the hospital in November last year.

Meanwhile, the P56-million municipal slaughterhouse/abattoir project, was implemented under the Department of Agriculture–Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP), and funded by the World Bank, the national government, and the Province of Negros Occidental, the press release said.

The project ensures safe, hygienic, and regulated meat processing for public consumption. It protects public health through proper sanitation and inspection, supports the local livestock industry and economy, and helps manage waste responsibly, it said. The slaughterhouse consists of a holding pen, boiler house, overhead water tank, wastewater treatment facility with drainage canal and decomposing pit, concrete perimeter fence with steel gate, concrete driveway, and various equipment, it added. Sixth District Board Member Jeffrey Tubola, Hinoba-an Mayor Daph Anthony Reliquias, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Girlie Pinongan, Chief of Hospital Lalaine Teorima, and Provincial Engineer Ernie Mapa joined the governor at the inauguration rites.*
