Guv: Consortium lone bidder for Negros bulk water project

A consortium was the lone bidder for the P1.2 billion Negros Occidental Bulk Water Supply Project (NBWSP) on Wednesday, Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said on Thursday, Dec. 12.

The consortium is composed of First Balfour Inc., Victorias Milling Co and FPIP Utilities Inc.

First Balfour Inc. is part of the Lopez Group of Companies, Lacson said.

There was one responsive bidder, they are now checking on their submitted documents but it was considered a successful bidding, Lacson said.

A post qualification evaluation in underway.

The NBWSP involves the financing, engineering design, construction, operation, and maintenance of a bulk water supply system to be sourced from the Imbang River and/or Malogo River.

It is expected to supply treated bulk water to six water service providers in the cities of Silay, Talisay, Victorias and Bacolod, and the municipalities of Manapla and EB Magalona.

Only one group out of at least ten companies that expressed interest in the project submitted a bid.

The bulk water project aims to address the problem of a potable water shortage in Negros Occidental.*
