Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, five mayors, four board members and a department head received their second Sinovac jabs at the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City Friday, May 28, Dr. Mary Ann Maestral, TLJPH officer-in-charge, said.

“It went well just like the first. No side effects for now,” Lacson said.

The second jabs of two other board members – Manuel Frederick Ko and Araceli Somosa, were deferred.

Ko tested positive for COVID-19 for a second time and is quarantine at the Mambukal Resort in Murcia.
Somosa, who tested negative for COVID-19, is under home quarantine for observation after her husband was hit by the virus, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said.

Among the mayors who received their second jabs were Pedro Zayco of Kabankalan City, Nicholas Yulo of Bago City, Manuel Escalante of Manapla, Rhumyla Mangilimutan of La Castellana and John Rey Tabujara of Cauayan, Maestral said.

Second doses were also administered on board members Erenesto Agustin Bascon, Sixto Guanzon Jr., Samson Mirhan and Victor Javellana, and Provincial Veterinarian Renante Decena, she added.

Maestral said Mayor Ernesto Estrao, who was not vaccinated when the governor received his first jab because his blood pressure went up, received his first jab in Hinoba-an.

Meanwhile, one more provincial government employee tested positive for COVID-19 bringing the total to 53 since April, Diaz said.*
