Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson is going for Vice President Leni Robredo but the officials of San Carlos City are supporting Ferdinand “BBM” Marcos Jr. And Sarah Duterte Carpio, Mayor Renato Gustilo said Wednesday, February 23.
Gustilo said they respect the decision of the governor but San Carlos City is going all out for Marcos and Carpio.
Rep. Gerardo Valmayor (Negros Occidental, 1st District) and former congressman Julio Ledesma IV are also supporting Marcos and Carpio, he said.
Lacson, who is the former mayor of San Carlos City, also respects their decision, Gustilo said.
“This is a free country,” the mayor said in reaction to claims that Negros is “pink country.”
“Anybody can support any candidate they want. This is the call of BBM, this is a united team like in San Carlos City where we have a Team Unity,” he said.
Every time the Marcoses run for office they are accused of corruption and human rights violations, he said.
“Are there no new issues…how many yellow presidents did we have but failed to jail any of the Marcoses?” he asked.*
