Commissioner Rowena V. Guanzon of the Commission on Elections is on the short list for Deputy Ombudsman for Visayas.
She retires from the Comelec on February 2, 2022, where she has been a commissioner since May 4, 2015.
Guanzon, who is from Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, was Commission on Audit commissioner in 2013.
Prior to that, she was director of the Institute for the Administration of Justice of the University of the Philippines Law Center, and a professor in the UP College of Law while practicing law.
She has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics (1979) and Bachelor of Laws (1984) from the University of the Philippines, and a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University (1995).*
