Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go said he will support whatever the decision of the majority is on the creation of the Negros Island Region.

Go was in Don Salvador Benedicto town in Negros Occidental for its Kali-Kalihan Festival on Thursday, February 9.

He is just one out of 24 votes in the Senate “but rest assured I will support whatever is good for Negros”, Go said.

All of the representatives of Negros and Siquijor islands are pushing for the creation of a new region. Their pending bill in Congress calls for the new region to be composed of Negros Occidental and Oriental, and Siquijor.

He will support what is good, right and proper for Negros to ensure progress in the island that will uplift the lives of the poor, Go said.

Meanwhile, Go said he is pushing for the creation of a Department of Disaster Resilience to ensure faster disaster response and restoration work.

He is also pushing for the creation of mandatory evacuation centers, he added.*
