Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go and Mayor Renato Gustilo led the groundbreaking for a Super Health Center (SHC) at Brgy. Prosperidad, San Carlos City in Negros Occidental, on Thursday, February 9.
There were funds allocated for 307 SHCs in 2022 and 222 in 2023 nationwide, with Negros Occidental allocated seven in 2022 and 18 in 2023, Go said.
The San Carlos Super Health Center will cost P16 million, with P10 million from the Department of Health (DOH) and a P6 million counterpart from San Carlos City.
Go said he is very happy that Brgy. Prosperidad is getting a Super Health Center, because he learned that some pregnant women in the country just give birth inside commercial vehicles because hospitals are too far from where they live.
The SHCs are envisioned to include database management, out-patient, birthing, isolation, diagnostic laboratory, pharmacy and ambulatory surgical unit services.*
