Senator Sherwin “Win” Gatchalian and Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez led the turnover of a multi-purpose building (phase 1) at the Negros Occidental National Science High School (NONSHS) in Victorias City on Tuesday, February 18.
Benitez, in his speech, stressed the city’s dedication to providing resources that nurture the skills and knowledge of students, recognizing them as the future pillars of society.
He also said that Victorias recently received the Seal of Good Education Governance, a testament to its continuous efforts in strengthening the education sector.
The mayor urged the students and school community to preserve and maintain the newly constructed facility for future generations to benefit from.
Gatchalian, Senate Committee on Basic Education chairman, cited the Victorias City government for its strong emphasis on academic excellence, and commended Benitez for his all-out support for the education sector.
Investing in students is key to uplifting the country from poverty, the senator said.
Dr. John Rey Ganne Dolorosa, NONSHS principal, thanked everyone who contributed to the development of the building and encouraged the school community to take responsibility for its proper use and maintenance.*
