Gamboa will abide by party decision on PCL presidency

Philippine Councilors League – Negros Occidental president, Ryan Gamboa, said on Tuesday, July 5, that he will   abide with whatever his party decides as far as his PCL post is concerned.

“I haven’t made a decision about what I’m going to do with regards to PCL. I’m still waiting for the advice from my party leaders,” said Gamboa, who is a member of Love Negros.

If they still endorse him well and good but he is also okay to hand over the position to whomever they choose, Gamboa said.

La Carlota City Councilor Julius Martin Asistio, the son of Rep. Juliet Marie Ferrer, is interested in running for the PCL- Negros Occidental presidency, Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante, United Negros Alliance secretary general, said on Monday.

There have been several names that have cropped up, Asistio’s is only one of them, Gamboa said.

Gamboa said Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson asked him to run for the PCL presidency in 2019 and he was endorsed by their party.

“I was not actually my plan to run for PCL but it was upon the request of the party… I did not expect this to be a permanent thing because my initial slot is as Silay councilor,” Gamboa said.

Lacson, when asked for his comment, said “We will be guided by the principle of a coalition”.

A decision has yet to be reached between UNegA and Love Negros, he said.*
