Bacolod Mayor Greg Gasataya announced that free anti-rabies vaccines will be available at the City Health Office (CHO) starting Thursday, October 9.

The city government will also offer free X-ray services as soon as the installation of a brand-new X-ray machine at the CHO is completed, he said.

Gasataya on Thursday signed Executive Order No. 59, mandating the administration of free anti-rabies vaccines to Categories II and III patients belonging to the priority sectors of Bacolod City,

“Health is a right, and as public servants we must do everything we can to protect that right and improve access to healthcare for our people,” the mayor said.

Priority will be given to senior citizens, indigent residents, and other marginalized and vulnerable groups as determined and certified, the EO states.

Meanwhile, Gasataya is asking the CHO for an explanation on why about 14,000 X-ray films were allowed to expire.

Gasataya said he discovered that that an X-ray machine purchased by the city government in December has already been delivered but has not yet been installed.

He has directed the urgent installation of the machine so Bacolod residents can be provided with free X-ray services, the mayor said.*
