The slain former policeman in Bago City*
A former policeman and a farmer were shot to death by unidentified gunmen in Bago City and Calatrava town in Negros Occidental on Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 26 and 27.
Reynaldo Bernel, a former policeman who was working as a head guard at a chicken farm, died after he was peppered with bullets by five unidentified persons at a bridge in Purok Michelle, Brgy. Dulao, Bago City, Thursday.
The victim came from the school of his child when five persons shot him multiple times causing his death, the police said.
The police recovered sixteen 5.56mm and six 9mm empty shells, and the motorcycle, handheld radio and phone of the victim from the crime scene.
The victim was allegedly involved in the shooting of a policeman in E.B. Magalona in 2015.
Meanwhile, a 51-year-old farmer was also shot dead by two unidentified persons in Sitio Proper, Brgy. Dolis, Calatrava, Wednesday night, Feb. 26.
The victim was about to start his motorcycle when the suspects approached and shot him five times in the head, back, and forearm, the police reported.
The victim was brought to the Calatrava Municipal Hospital where he was declared dead.*
