Former Hinoba-an Mayor Ernesto Estrao on Wednesday, February 21, said he may run for congressman of the Sixth District of Negros Occidental in 2025.
“It is not final, next week we have a PDP Laban (Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan) meeting, I will wait for my appointment as (Sixth) District chairman,” he said.
He will need the blessing of the PDP Laban leadership first, he said.
The PDP Laban president is Rep. Jose Alvarez (Palawan, 2nd District) with former president Rodrigo Duterte as chairman, he said.
Estrao said he is not a Love Negros member and has been inactive from the United Negros Alliance.
He does not know which local group he will align with but his heart is with Negros Occidental Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer, Estrao said.
Rep. Mercedes Alvarez is the incumbent representative of the Sixth District of Negros Occidental.*
