The five Grupo Progreso members who won their re-election bids in the May 9 polls in Bacolod City took their oaths before Regional Trial Court Executive Judge Raymond Joseph Javier at the Bacolod Hall of Justice on Tuesday afternoon, May 31.
Those who took their oaths were Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, and councilors Israel Salanga, Cindy Rojas, Em Ang and Renecito Novero.
Mayor-elect Alfredo “Albee” Benitez, Rep. Greg Gasataya and the eight other Team Asenso winning councilors of Bacolod took their oaths earlier.
Formal oath taking rites are set at the Bacolod City Government Center on June 27, Benitez said.
Familiaran said he can work with anybody as long it will benefit the people of Bacolod.
He said he is ready to support Benitez, we all have the same goals – “to work for the progress of the city and for improving the lives of our constituents”.
Familiaran had no comment on the Truth Commission created by Benitez. “That is his right”, he said.
The Truth Commission will dig deep into previous transactions in the Bacolod City government and will file charges if there is evidence to do so, Benitez said on Monday.*
