The Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) in Bacolod City is virtually launching Cor Illumina, the first peer-reviewed medical journal in Negros Island on Monday, September 27, Dr. Juan Agustin D. Coruña, its editor-in-chief, said Friday.
“This confirms the capabilities of CLMMRH as a premiere government health facility…with solid infrastructure in place, a consistent patient census, and robust pool of highly skilled allied health workers,” he said.
“Despite a host of delays brought about by the pandemic, the hospital makes an indelible mark with a firm footing on research and attempts to be one of the best in the country. It invests highly on its personnel, moves forward for its clients, and innovates to reflect sound hospital policy,” he said
All these planned and careful steps tread on a sensitive health climate where expenditure for health costs directly correlates with productivity of a region, Coruña said.
CLMMRH, through Cor Illumina, aims to make patients better by treating them based on excellent practices adapted from research and clarifies false statements that maliciously misinform the population on health concerns, he added.
In its first issue, Cor Illumina features a diverse patient base being treated for stroke, diabetic limb infection, as well as pneumonia, Coruña said
The maiden issue will feature six research papers:
*Prevalence of Anxiety and Depression among Post-Stroke Patients at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital from June – August 2020
*The Quality of Life of Patients Who had Lower Limb Amputation Secondary to Diabetes Mellitus Seen at the Out-Patient Department of Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital from July – September 2020
*Comparison of Outcomes Among Community Acquired Pneumonia Moderate Risk Patients Before and After the Implementation of Intravenous-to-Oral Antibiotic Switch Policy in Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital
*A Rare Case of Congenital Arhinia
*Placenta Increta in a Young Primigravid as a Cause of Uterine Rupture
*Not So Sweet – The Other Side of Sugars: A Case of Hyperinsulinemic Hypoglycemia Secondary to a So a Solitary Insulinoma in a 31-year-old Male Presenting with Neuroglycopenic Symptoms
Cor Illumina is led by Juan Agustin Coruña IV – editor-in-chief with Dr. Cesar De Guzman Jr. – associate and layout editor, Dr. Jorge Edward Masa – associate editor, and Registered Nurse Phoebe Dizon – managing editor.
It is published by CLMMRH with the guidance of its medical center chief Dr. Julius Drilon and the chair of the Research Committee Dr. Ma. Luz Vicenta Elvira Guanzon.
The advisory board is comprised of doctors Hans Francis Ferraris, Balintawak Sison-Gareza, and Jonel Saludes.
A host of editors and peer-reviewers complete Cor Illumina’s roster with doctors Hansel Gould Cocjin, Michelli Mae Yusay, Rose Joy Vallega, Shearwin Soyao, Joy Ann De Castro, Peter Andrew Reyes and Mary Tricia Parreño, registered nurses Marites Villagante, Gemmarie Cabrera and Cora Garzon, and John Michael Gabriel Zaragoza, Cassandra Belleza, Edwin Balontong, and Ariel Toriales.
