Firecracker victims now 97 in Neg. Occ., Bacolod

Firecracker victims in Negros Occidental have increased to 97 with the cities of Kabankalan and Bago having the most number, records showed on Thursday, January 4.

The Provincial Health Office (PHO) reported that from Dec. 21, 2023 to Jan. 4, 2024, there were 89 firecracker-injured persons in Negros Occidental.

The Bacolod City Health office reported eight firecracker victims.

Kabankalan and Bago each recorded 13 individuals injured, the highest among the cities and towns in the province.

The PHO also said that of the 89 injured, 79 of them were treated and sent home, seven were transferred to a higher facility, and three are still admitted.

There were 71 with burn injuries, 18 had eye injuries, and 3 had blast/burn injuries with amputation, the PHO added.*
