Fire destroyed two houses and damaged one in Purok Santol, Brgy. Mandalagan, Bacolod City, at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 5.
Twelve families with 42 members were affected, the Bacolod City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office reported.
Destroyed were the houses of Jasmin Nuñez and Jovel Olave, and damaged was the house of Evangilene Tumabiene.
The destruction was estimated at P630,000, the Bacolod Fire Station reported.
City Fire Marshall CInsp. Stephen Jardeleza said that they are investigating whether the fire was caused by the unattended cooking of food.
The Bacolod DRRMO and the Department of Social Services and Development provided the affected families with hygiene kits, food packs, jerry cans, sleeping kits, and hot meals.*
