Fastcrafts plying the Bacolod-Iloilo-Bacolod route temporarily halted operations Monday, January 10, following the enforcement of more stringent travel rules, Frank Carbon, Weesam Express consultant, said.
Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas in a Facebook post Monday said considering that Bacolod City now requires travelers a negative RT-PCR test result before traveling to Bacolod even if they are fully vaccinated.
Iloilo City is now also requiring the same from travelers from Bacolod City, he added.
Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia had earlier issued an executive order requiring travelers from areas under Alert Level 3 entering Bacolod City to present negative RT-PCR test results.
Bacolod City is currently under Alert Level 2.
Carbon said there were very few travelers because it is now very expensive to travel as passengers not only have to pay for their transportation but also for the RT-PCR test.
He said Ocean Jet and Weesam Express temporarily halted operations Monday and he hopes the stringent travel restrictions are short term so they can resume operations by January 15.
Roll-on-roll-off vessels that carry cargo continued to ply the Panay-Bacolod route yesterday, Carbon said.*
