EOC recommends tightening of rules on travelers from Panay

The Bacolod City Emergency Operations Center has recommended the tightening of rules on the entry of persons from Panay and Guimaras, Dr. Chris Sorongon, EOC deputy for medical data and analysis, said today, January 29.

He said they recommended the tightening of rules because of the increasing COVID-19 cases in Iloilo and the recent case of an official of the Department of the Interior and Local Government from Iloilo who joined a provincial anti-drug summit in Bacolod City who was found positive for the virus.

They also took into account the need to take precautions against the new COVID-19 variant and the requests of municipal and city health offices outside Bacolod, Sorongon said.

He said they are recommending that persons entering Bacolod from Panay be required to present any government ID, a BacTrac ID, online health declaration form, letter of coordination with barangay in Bacolod City or LGU from outside of Bacolod City, and a Philippine National Police travel authority from LGU of origin.

The EOC has endorsed its recommendations to Mayor Evelio Leonardia and is waiting for their approval, he said.

Iloilo had 90 new COVID-19 cases today, while Iloilo City has 20, Negros Occidental – 15, Bacolod – 3, and Aklan – 2, the Department of Health reported tonight.

There are no new cases in Antique, Capiz, and Guimaras, it added.

Meanwhile, Sorongon said registration forms are being distributed in Bacolod barangays for residents who wish to sign up for COVID-19 vaccination, while online registration will be launched next week.*
