The Bacolod City Emergency Operations Center-Task Force (EOC-TF), led by the Extraction Cluster, conducted Night Simulation Exercises for the extraction of hotel guests with COVID-19, at Park Inn by Radisson Thursday, Oct. 28.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia, who witnessed the simulation exercises, said the hotel management informed him they are planning to do similar simulation exercises quarterly, a press release from the Bacolod Public Information Office said Saturday, October 30.

“I’m happy that Park Inn by Radisson made an effort to do this exercises. This is a simulation in which the hotel should be able to perform careful and certain procedures to avoid any contamination if there’s a COVID-19 positive guest in the hotel,” Leonardia said.

Supervising the simulation exercises were EOC-TF Deputy for Medical Dr. Anna Maria Laarni Pornan, who also heads the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office; Sherwin Lucas, general manager of Park Inn by Radisson, and Christian Mark Banagan, security manager of the hotel.

Pornan said they are conducting simulation exercises in order to teach hotel personnel, with the help of the city’s Extraction Team, how to safely extract and handle a guest with COVID-19.

“We would like to thank the Bacolod LGU, especially Mayor Bing Leonardia, for supporting us all the time in our effort to make our guests safe, while we provide Bacolodnons our best, safest and healthiest venue for them,” Lucas said.*
