The state weather bureau on Friday, June 7, announced the end of El Niño.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the conditions in the tropical Pacific have returned to El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO)-neutral levels.
The transition from ENSO-neutral to La Niña remains likely (about 69 percent chance) by the July-August-September 2024 season, a press release from PAGASA said.*
