The commander of the 3rd Infantry Division of the Philippine Army urged 3ID line units to focus their efforts on running after the remnants of the defunct guerilla fronts in Negros Island.
Maj. Gen. Marion Sison, 3ID commander, directed the troops to focus their efforts on running after them within the given timeline during his visit last week.
Sison said that with the success of combat operations in Negros, the effort must now be devoted to countering rebel urban operations through re-orientation of CTG Affiliated Mass Organizations (CAMOs) and cooptation of Sectoral Front Organizations (SFOs) and other allied organizations operating in urban areas and town centers.
“We shall not relax. Instead, we shall incessantly conduct Focused Military Operations (FMO) and counter-CTG Urban Operations to attain our goal of ending insurgency by the end of the year”, Sison said.
Sison, along with his operational staff, visited and inspected the headquarters of the 94th Infantry (Mandirigma) Battalion in Ayungon, Negros Oriental, 62nd Infantry (Unifier) Battalion in Isabela, Negros Occidental, 79th Infantry (Masaligan) Battalion in Sagay City, Negros Occidental;
The 303rd Infantry (Brown Eagle) Brigade in Murcia, Negros Occidental, 47th Infantry Battalion in Mabinay, Negros Oriental, and 15th Infantry (Molave) Battalion, in Cauayan, Negros Occidental.
The purpose of these visits was to ensure that the Division is on track in its campaign to end insurgency before the end of the year and to look after the general welfare of its personnel, An Army press release said.
“We shall do these to protect and sustain our gains of a Stable Internal Peace and Security (SIPS) environment in Negros Island”, Sison said, adding “ending insurgency and finishing our mission in Internal Security Operations (ISO) is crucial as we posture ourselves for the Territorial Defense Operations”.*
