Negros Occidental is also still No. 1 in the Chikiting Ligtas vaccination campaign in Western Visayas, the DOH said Thursday.

The nine Negros Occidental LGUs that have exceeded the DOH target are Murcia with 107.97 percent vaccinated children or an excess of 939 from the 7,244 target, followed by Himamaylan City at 105.76 percent;

Silay City – 102.78 percent, Talisay City – 99.56 percent, Kabankalan City – 98.03 percent, La Castellana – 96.97 percent, Moises Padilla – 95.88 percent, Sagay City – 95.76 percent, and Candoni – 95.57 percent.

Twenty-two other Negros Occidental LGUs have yet to reach the 95 percent vaccination target before the June 15 deadline.

Negros Occidental has vaccinated 89.13 percent or 198,392 children out of its 222,590 target, the PHO report showed.

The report said 13,069 more children need to be vaccinated for the province to hit its 95 percent target.

Negros Occidental has the highest vaccination rate in Western Visayas, a press release from the Department of Health-Region 6 said Thursday.

The total target for Western Visayas is 660,054 and the region has already vaccinated 522,000 or 79.20 percent.

DOH is urging parents to participate in the campaign by bringing their children to the nearest vaccination sites.*
