DOH classifies Bacolod as Covid high risk area

The Department of Health in Western Visayas classified Bacolod City as a high risk area for COVID-19 Monday, April 26.

Bacolod was classified as a high risk area because its average daily attack rate per 100,000 population grew from 6.18 percent to 7.12 percent in the last two weeks, Dr. Marie Jocelyn Te reported during the DOH Isyung Bakuna online press conference.

The growth rate of the COVID-19 cases in Bacolod in the last two weeks was also placed 146.60 percent, she said.

The DOH report said the top 10 COVID-hit barangays in Bacolod are Handumanan with 98 active cases, Mansilingan – 79, Estefania -74, Taculing – 63, Villamonte – 56, Mandalagan – 53, Tangub – 47, Alijis -44, Bata -33 and Vista Alegre -20.

The Bacolod Emergency Operations Center reported that 12 city barangays had no COVID-19 cases from April 13 to 26.

They area barangays 4, 8, 9, 13, 16, 19, 20, 22, 24, 25, 37 and 41.

Meanwhile, Negros Occidental that was classified as a high risk COVID-19 area last week was reclassified by the DOH as a low risk area on Monday.

Its average daily attack rate per 100,000 population dropped from 5.14 percent to 3.38 percent, the report said.

The DOH reported 21 new COVID 19 cases in Negros Occidental and 18 in Bacolod City on Monday.

Negros Occidental had 2,011 active COVID -19 cases and Bacolod City had 886, the DOH reported.

DOH also reported that Negros Occidental has had the highest number of COVID-19 cases in Western Visayas since March last year at 10,515 followed by Bacolod City with 7,210.*
