Dog shot with an Indian target needs help, rescue group says

A dog was shot with an Indian target at Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City, and help is needed for it to undergo an operation, Community Animal Rescue Efforts Inc. reported Saturday, Nov. 23.

The dog was found roaming around with the arrow still lodged in its back, CARE said in a Facebook post.

“After several attempts, we managed to rescue the dog and rushed it to the vet. An X-ray revealed that the arrow was 8 inches long, with 5 inches embedded in its back,” it said.

“The dog is scheduled to undergo surgery as soon as possible. Currently, it is confined at the veterinary clinic, and we are deeply concerned about how we will cover the vet bills, which amount to ₱8,870 and may increase,” CARE said.

“We humbly ask for your support through donations to help cover the costs and give this innocent dog a chance to recover and live a better life,” it said. CARE can be reached through its Facebook page.

CARE is also calling on possible witnesses who can provide information about the suspect responsible for shooting the dog.

“Animal cruelty is never acceptable and must not be tolerated”, CARE said.*
