Cough, fever top ailments at evacuation centers

Cough and fever are still the top illnesses of the Kanlaon Volcano evacuees at evacuation centers, Dr. Ma. Girlie Pinongan, Negros Occidental provincial health officer, said on Thursday, Dec. 26.

She said the Provincial Health Office has been sending teams and medicines to the evacuation centers. The common ailment at the evacuation centers in respiratory in nature, she said.

Pinongan said the Department of Health (DOH) has also been providing medicines and conducting consultations for the evacuees.

The DOH Negros Island Region reported on Thursday that out of 1,586 consultations at the evacuation centers 242 were for cough, 140 – fever, 108 – headaches, 93 – hypertension and 79 stomach aches.*
