
Cough, colds and fever are the common ailments among evacuees affected by Kanlaon Volcano’s eruption.
Dr. Razel Nikka Hao, Department of Health – Negros Island Regional director, said such ailments are common nowadays, even outside evacuation centers.
She said the situation at the evacuations centers is under control.
There were 36 evacuees with fever and 16 who sought medical help for acute respiratory infection as of Jan. 16, the DOH reported.
There are currently 9,732 residents in 22 evacuation centers in La Castellana, Bago City and La Carlota City in Negros Occidental and in Canlaon City in Negros Oriental.
They have not faced any water or hygiene related diseases at the evacuation centers , Hao said.
Routine services are being provided at the evacuation centers such as immunization, nutrition and vitamin supplementation for the children.
The DOH has also prepositioned medicines for adults suffering from hypertension and diabetes, Hao said.*
