Cops on Holy Week full alert, BFP ready to assist travelers

The Philippine National Police is on red alert for Holy Week while the Bureau of Fire Protection in Bacolod has activated “Oplan Semana Santa” and “Lakbay Alalay”.

The BFP will deploy fire trucks and personnel as part of its assistance to travelers and will be distributing fire safety leaflets to them from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday to Sunday, April 13 to 17, Bacolod Fire Marshall Rodel Legaspi said.

Personnel of the Central Fire Station will be stationed at Bacolod Public Plaza and San Sebastian Cathedral area, Lopez Jaena Fire Sub-Station at the Ceres North Terminal in Barangay Bata, Libertad Fire Sub-Station at the Ceres South Terminal in Lopez Jaena, Rodriguez Fire Sub-Station at the BREDCO Port;

Pahanocoy Fire Sub-Station at the San Isidro Labrador Parish Church- Tangub, Sum-ag Fire Sub-Station at the St, John Nepomuceno Parish Church in Sum-ag, Granada Fire Sub-Station at the Our Lady of Miraculous Parish Church –Granada, and Mansilingan Fire Sub-Station at the Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Church – Mansilingan.

The PNP in Negros Occidental is also on red alert for Holy week, its spokesperson Lt. Abegael Donasco said.

That means all of its personnel will be on full alert, she said.

Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leanardia, in his Lenten message, said “May this Lenten Season rekindle our faith, strengthen our resolve to embrace the Lord’s teachings and bring us closer to the Almighty as we continue to face dire times and personal challenges”.*
