
More than P7.6 million worth of suspected shabu was seized in separate anti-illegal drug operations in Bacolod City and Manapla, Negros Occidental, resulting in the arrest of two alleged high-value drug personalities Saturday and Sunday, June 20 and 21.
In Bacolod City, operatives of the Bacolod City Police Office City Drug Enforcement Unit arrested a 21-year-old suspect during a buy-bust operation in Purok Nami-Nami, Brgy. Banago, at about 7:16 a.m. on Sunday.
Arrested was Jonel Ayes, alias “Ren,” an unemployed resident of the area.
Police said the suspect allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu to a poseur buyer, leading to his arrest.
Recovered from his possession were 10 sachets and two knot-tied plastic bags containing around 300 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated standard drug price of P2.04 million.
Authorities also recovered buy-bust money and other non-drug items.
The suspect was turned over to Police Station 3 for documentation and the filing of appropriate charges.
In Manapla, operatives of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit of the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region arrested a 19-year-old high-value individual during a buy-bust operation in Hacienda Busay, Brgy. Punta Mesa, Saturday.
The suspect, identified only as alias “Jay Em,” was allegedly involved in illegal drug activities based on intelligence information validated by authorities.
Seized during the operation were around 820 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated standard drug price of P5.576 million.
Also recovered were 24 sachets and three knot-tied plastic bags containing suspected shabu, one sachet used as the buy-bust item, P20,000 in alleged drug proceeds, buy-bust money, and a Honda XRM motorcycle.
Police said the inventory and documentation of the seized items were conducted in the presence of the suspect and required witnesses in compliance with Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Police BGen. Romano B. Cardiño, acting regional director of PRO-NIR, lauded the operating units for the successful operation.
Authorities said charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared against the suspects.*
