Contracts for Bacolod water expected to be inked Friday

Contracts for the supply of 20 MLD (millions of liter per day) of water to Bacolod City are expected to be signed on Friday, February 2.

Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said the two contracts were sent to Bacolod City Water District-PrimeWater for review and he has asked that they be signed on Friday.

The contracts will be for 15 MLD from the injection point 2 of Bacolod Bulk Water Inc. and 5MLD in spring water from Barangay Alangilan, he said.

After the contract signing obstacles such as right of way can be solved with support of the local government, he said.

The connections for the delivery of the 20 MLD to Baciwa-PrimeWater are expected in four to six months to address the water shortage problems of Bacolod.

The mayor said he will closely watch the progress, “we are not taking this sitting down anymore”.*
