Condemn Hamas, Israeli war, Negros human rights group calls

Kapatiran on Sunday, October 29, called on the public and all defenders of human rights throughout the world to condemn and rally against the wanton violation of the basic human rights in the ongoing war between the extremist Hamas and the Israeli government.

“We condemn the violence that continues to cause the loss of thousands of lives and sufferings of much more people in the divided land of Israel,” Alan S. Gozon, Kapatiran secretary general, said in a statement.

Kapatiran is a Negros based human rights group.

Kapatiran “has pursued the work for peace and development since its formation in 2013 ushered by the RPMP/RPA/ABB (Rebolusyonaryong Partido Ng Manggagawa – Pilipinas/Revolutionary Proletarian Army/Alex Boncayao Brigade) critique and denunciation of the CPP-NPA’s (Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army) decades of undertaking the violent strategy of Protracted People’s War”, he said.

”Instead of bringing about real change from the country’s social ills of poverty and social injustice, this strategy to violently overthrow the government only caused the worsening and more misfortunes of people’s lives in armed conflict areas,” Gozon said.

Wars between countries have led to loss of many innocent lives and wanton violation of human rights of the peoples of countries at war, he said.

“We call on the Jewish and Palestinian peoples and all other human rights loving men and women to demand an immediate ceasefire and for the warring governments to seek a compromise on the conflict of territorial claims that would uphold and protect human rights and give justice for all the peoples in conflict”, Gozon said.*
