Comelec resets filing of COCs for BSKE to Aug. 28 – Sept. 2

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) en banc has unanimously approved the resetting of the filing of Certificates of Candidacy for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) to August 28 to September 2.

Being a COMELEC that listens and hears the clamor of the country’s senators and representatives as well as that of other interest groups and stakeholders, the commission opted to move the election period and the period for filing COCs closer to the October 30 elections, it announced on Wednesday, March 22.

The election period and the imposition of the gun ban has been reset to August 28 to November 14. It was previously set from July 3 to November 14.

Campaigning is prohibited from August 28 to October 18.

The campaign period will be from October 19 to 28.

There were be a liquor ban and campaigning will be prohibited from October 29 to 30.

The last day for the filing of the Statement of Contribution and Expenditures (SOCE) will be on November 29.

However, the Comelec will proceed with its early coordination and security planning with the Philippine National Police, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine Coast Guard, and the National Bureau of Investigation.

The Commission en banc also resolved to make Task Force Kontra Bigay, the inter-agency premier arm of the Comelec to combat Vote- Buying and Vote-Selling, as a standing and permanent working committee.*
