“Let’s accompany our prayers with concrete expressions of love.”
That was the appeal of San Carlos Bishop Gerardo Alminaza on Wednesday, Dec. 11, as he called for prayers and donations for the Kanlaon Volcano evacuees.
“Another danger or risk for being frequently visited by natural calamities is we become immune and indifferent. Yet the worst of times can truly be the best of times to give witness to our faith that we are all interconnected in God, to demonstrate our love for each other and to reassert our mission to genuinely care for our common home”, he said.
“We are now being challenged to show our synodality – leaving no one behind,” he added.
Bacolod Bishop Patricio Buzon on Wednesday also called for prayers and donations to aid the evacuees.
An appeal for donations will be made in all Churches in the Diocese of Bacolod on Sunday, he said.
The Diocese of Kabankalan, in a post on its Facebook page, called on the faithful to show their love and empathy with the victims of Kanlaon’s recent eruption finding refuge at St. Vincent Ferrer Shrine – La Castellana.
Donations such as food, water, face masks, hygiene kits, toiletries, sleeping mats, and beddings, may be dropped or delivered to the nearest parish in your area, it said.
Cash donations may be sent to GCash No. 09177716917 of Fr. Ricon Dagunan, it said.
“Together, let us spread the spirit of Christmas through prayer and generosity,” the post said.*
