CHO recommends restricted movement for unvaccinated

The City Health Office (CHO) head is recommending the passage of an ordinance restricting the movement of unvaccinated residents in Bacolod City for their own safety amid the COVID-19 threat.

Dr. Edwin Miraflor Jr., CHO officer-in-charge, said on Tuesday, January 4, that he is recommending that the city government adopt a resolution passed by the Metro Manila mayors urging the passage of local ordinances prohibiting unvaccinated individuals from going outside their residences, except for essential trips.

The resolution states that unvaccinated individuals should remain inside their homes except when buying necessities, going to work, or for other essential activities.

The Inter-Agency Task Force and the national government have enjoined all local government units nationwide to craft similar ordinances to protect the unvaccinated population, Miraflor said.

“I would suggest that Bacolod also crafts the same ordinance limiting the exposure of the unvaccinated population,” he said.

Miraflor also pointed out that Bacolod City now has very few unvaccinated residents.

Bacolod City has vaccinated more than 95 percent of its target population already, he said.

Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran said Mayor Evelio Leonardia will meet with the business community to discuss the recommendation.*
