CHMSU launches revised eco-waste mgmt system

Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU) reaffirmed its commitment to the environment with the launching of its  revised Ecological Waste Management System (EWMS) this Earth Month.

Designees, officers, faculty members, and unit representatives from all four campuses gathered at the Talisay Campus Audio-Visual Room for a reorientation on the EWMS on April 14, a press release from  CHMSU said on Thursday, April 24.

Class mayors and student-leaders at the Talisay Campus also underwent an orientation on the EWMS on April 22, during the Earth Day celebration.

Greening CHMSU Task Force Chair Rhoderick Samonte led both sessions, presenting the updated 19-point Policy Statements and Operational Guidelines contained in the EWMS signed on March 14 by University President Norberto Mangulabnan.

The EWMS reinforces existing protocols and introduce new measures to foster a more sustainable and environmentally responsible CHMSU community.

Key highlights included the intensified enforcement of waste segregation at source with corresponding sanctions for violations, the rollout of the bring-your-own (BYO) and clean as you go (CLAYGO) practices, and the much-anticipated return of the Seal of Green Office Awards – an initiative that recognizes offices and workstations with exemplary green practices, the press release said.

To ensure full implementation, a massive information campaign will be cascaded across all campuses in the coming weeks.*
