Cauayan, Negros Occidental, Mayor John Rey Tabujara on Thursday, January 25, confirmed that he plans to run for a third term in 2025 and is ready for anyone who may challenge him.
“We can’t stop anyone from running as we are a democracy,” he said.
Tabujara also said that he is staying “neutral” on the ongoing “people’s initiative” signature campaign to amend the 1987 Constitution, which is being spearheaded by a private group in his town.
“I can’t say I am in favor or against the move as it will still go through the process. It the people will sign let them sign, if they won’t then they should not be forced,” he said.
But, Tabujara said he is supporting amendments to the economic provisions of the Constitution.
Provincial election supervisor Ian Lee Ananoria earlier said that 6,848 “people’s initiative” signatures from Cauayan have been submitted to his office.*
