The three Roman Catholic dioceses in Negros Occidental will ring their church bells in solidarity with the Global Day of Action for Climate Justice on Saturday, Dec. 9.
Diocese of San Carlos Bishop Gerardo Alminaza-led Eco-Convergence National Hub of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines will lead the simultaneous ringing of church bells in the country.
This includes the dioceses of Bacolod, San Carlos, and Kabankalan.
The event is in line with the proceedings of the Conference of Parties (COP28) happening in Dubai from Nov. 30 to Dec. 12.
In a statement from CBCP President Pablo Virgilio David said that the Philippines must join the Global Day of Action “to act with compassion and responsibility towards our environment and our brothers and sisters in the existential peripheries”.
“May our collective efforts echo the profound message of Laudate Deum, igniting a global movement towards ecological stewardship and justice,” David said.*
