PNA file photoThe more than 1.9 million ballots for Negros Occidental are set to arrive on May 1 and will be distributed to the local government units (LGUs) the next day, Acting Provincial Election Supervisor Roberto Salazar said Monday, April 18.The 2,906 vote counting machines for the May 9 polls in Negros Occidental arrived on Thursday, April 14, and are being stored in a secured warehouse, he said.The VCMs will be transferred to LGUs and their final testing and sealing will be on May 7, Salazar said.Meanwhile, the Commission on Elections is conducting refresher training for teachers who will serve on election day to remind them of their tasks, he added.*

Central Negros Electric Cooperative has announced that its average residential rate for April is P11.4318 per kWh, an increase of P0.5108 from last month’s rate of P10.9210.The P0.5108/kWh rate hike was attributed to the increase in generation, transmission and system loss charges caused by the surge in fuel rates, increase in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market WESM price and purchase and other pass through charges, CENECO announced.The Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative (NOCECO) also announced a P0.3279 increase in its power rates from P12.6334 in March to P12.9613 8 in April.Northern Negros Electric Cooperative is also set to raise its power rates.The following is the NOCECO press statement:
