Paski, the dog who is believed have been tortured, is improving and was able to stand up on Sunday, May 14, but still needs help, Irene “Ai-ai” Gamboa, Community Animal Rescue Efforts (CARE) Inc. vice president, said.
The dog is owned by Gilda Mondragon of Purok Sabes in Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod, who has reported the incident to the police, Gamboa said.
CARE is calling for justice for the dog who was in critical condition on Saturday following her rescue, Gamboa said.
“Paksi was found lying on the floor inside the alleged suspect’s CR, unable to move and in severe pain. According to the neighbors they heard a dog crying and screaming in the middle of the night after she went missing”, CARE reported on its Facebook page
The dog was rushed to a veterinary clinic where she was given first aid and necessary medication.
“Upon arrival according to the veterinarian, Paksi was breathing heavily with blood shot eyes due to hemorrhage. The doctor also found out that her genitals were swollen and inflamed,” it added.
The vet is willing to take swab sample to determine if the watery liquid found in her vagina was human semen, if anyone knows where it can be examined, CARE said.
The dog was still struggling and screaming in pain and had seizure at the vet’s clinic but survived.
After a series of tests and an X-ray it was discovered that Paski had a fractured skull and they were advised to keep her confined at the clinic for further observation, Gamboa said.
On Sunday it was determined that despite the fracture there was no bleeding and damage to the dog’s brain, she said.
“A police blotter was already filed by the owners and we are waiting for more statements from witnesses,” CARE said.
CARE has issued an appeal for donations as Paski’s owner is struggling financially to pay for all her medical bills to enable her to fully recover.
