The Negros Occidental provincial government has hired the cooks and their support staff at the Kanalaon Volcano evacuation centers as job order workers.
They will be hired as JOs of the provincial government to man the community kitchens serving food to evacuees, Provincial Administrator Rayfando Diaz said on Monday, Jan. 13.They are now processing the employment documents of the 41 JOs so they can be paid for six months until June 30, he said.
There are 26 assigned to La Castellana, 10 for La Carlota City and and 5 for Bago City, Diaz said.
They hired evacuees so they will have a source of livelihood and can serve their fellow evacuees with dedication, he added.
The provincial government also continues to deliver potable water to the evacuees using its reverse osmosis tanker, he said.*
