Capitol gives incentives to best ZOD barangays

Governor Eugeno Jose Lacson led the awarding of cash incentives worth P20,000 each to 20 Best Zero Open Defecation (ZOD) barangays in Negros Occidental for 2022 at the Capitol in Bacolod City on Thursday, February 23.

The recipients were Brgy. Balingasag, Bago City; Brgy. Sto. Rosario, Binalbagan; Brgys. Calubang, Consuelo, Delicioso, and Manalad of Ilog; Brgy. Bulad, Isabela; Brgy. I of Kabankalan City; Brgys. Araal and Balabag of La Carlota City; Brgys. Buanvista Gibong, M. H. Del Pilar, Poblacion I and Recreo of Pontevedra; Brgys. III and IV of San Carlos City; Brgy. II, Silay City; Brgys. Zone 4 and Zone 9 of Talisay City; and Brgy. XVI of Victorias City, press release from the Capitol said.

A ZOD status is achieved when households in a particular barangay, have access to sanitary toilet facilities and stopped the practice of open defecation, which results in zero human feces exposure in the environment, it said.

The Provincial Health Office verified the ZOD barangays and continues to promote the ZOD program through various health education campaigns in the province, it added.
