Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said on Monday, January 3, that the release of financial assistance to the Typhoon “Odette” victims in Negros Occidental is being fast tracked.
Power has been restored along the highway in Hinoba-a town and other areas in southern Negros Occidental, he also said.
Rehabilitation will be hastened with the restoration of power, Lacson said.
He said typhoon-affected families will receive a maximum of P5,000 each from the P90 million the National Housing Authority allocated for Negros Occidental.
The instruction of President Rodrigo Duterte is to release the funds immediately, Lacson said.
The P41 million allocated by the National Treasury will be used for financial assistance and the purchase of housing materials, he also said.
Donations received by the province are also being used for the purchase of roofing, Lacson said.
San Miguel Corp. has donated P2 million to the typhoon response efforts of the province, he added.*
