The Negros Occidental provincial government employees are hoping to get a bigger bonus this December, their union president said on Thursday, Nov. 28.

In December 2023 the total additional bonuses received by regular and casual employees was P55,000 each, Randy Peacita, president of the Progressive Alliance of Capitol Employees, said.

He said they are sure to receive P30,000 each this December as stipulated in their Collective Negotiation Agreement.

The remaining additional bonuses are expected to be announced by Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson at their Christmas Party on December 13, he said.

“May it increase. Everyone expects more,” Peacita said.

The provincial government is still waiting for the Department of Budget and Management guidelines so it can also release a performance based bonus (PBB), the governor said earlier.

Negros Occidental’s Seal of Good Local Governance award would be the basis for the granting of the PBB to its employees, he said.

Peacita said they have been assured that the PBB funds are available, the problem is the DBM guidelines have not been released.

If the PBB is released without the DBM guidelines they run the risk of having to return what they receive, he said.*
