Calatrava farmer drowns

A farmer was found dead in the waters of Purok Tres, Brgy. Lipat-on, Calatrava, Negros Occidental, on Thursday, February 1, after he drowned at sea.

The victim was a 33-year-old farmer, whose name was withheld by the police, from Sitio Dao, Brgy. Lemery in Calatrava.

A fisherman found the victim’s body floating in the water while he was casting his fishnet by the shore.

The victim was brought by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office team to the Calatrava Health Unit and was declared dead on arrival.

The attending physician found that the victim’s death was caused by asphyxia secondary to accidental drowning.
