The Cadiz and Kabankalan city governments have provided assistance to residents of La Castellana, Negros Occidental, following the Kanlaon Volcano eruption.

Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. sent two potable water stations to the town to provide drinking water to the affected residents.

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Team of Cadiz set up the water stations with purifiers in barangays Mansalanao and Cabagna-an, Tuesday night, June 4.

Escalante said they also did this in Kabankalan City, Sipalay City and Ilog after Super Typhoon Odette hammered southern Negros on Dec. 16, 2021.

“In the spirit of bayanihan, we can’t afford to hear news about scarcity of drinking water in some areas in La Castellana. We feel them, “Escalante said.

Meanwhile, the Kabankalan City government has also turned over hundreds of N95 masks, 1,000 surgical masks, medicine, and food packs for the evacuees.

The city also provided a water tanker and purifier for the affected areas in La Castellana.*
