
A barangay kagawad was stabbed while responding to a call for assistance at the Balicaocao Mountain Resort in Brgy. Orong, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, Thursday morning, Oct. 9.
The police identified the victim as a 48-year-old married barangay kagawad and resident of Sitio Malasbalas, Brgy. Orong.
The suspect was identified as alias “Paking,” 38, single, a laborer, and a resident of in Brgy. Orong.
At around 10:00 a.m., the kagawad received a phone call requesting help at the resort and proceeded to the area with a barangay tanod.
On arrival, they saw the suspect acting uneasy while carrying a bladed weapon.
When they approached him, the suspect suddenly drew the weapon and stabbed the kagawad multiple times.
A security guard on duty witnessed the attack and fired at the suspect to defend the victim, hitting him in the right arm.
Both the kagawad and the suspect were brought to Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital for treatment.
The suspect is now detained at the Kabankalan City Police Station.*
