
Two high-value drug personalities were arrested in separate buy-bust operations conducted by the Police Regional Office Negros Island Region (PRO NIR) in Bacolod and Victorias cities, resulting in the confiscation of suspected shabu worth more than P1 million.
In Bacolod City, alias “Luis,” 33, single, unemployed, and a resident of Purok Sigay, Brgy. Singcang-Airport, was arrested by Police Station 2 operatives at Gatuslao Street, Brgy. 8, on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
Authorities said the suspect initially claimed to have no available stock of shabu during a monitored transaction but later contacted the poseur-buyer when his supply was replenished.
The buy-bust operation was carried out after he handed over one knot-tied plastic bag of suspected shabu in exchange for marked money.
Recovered from his possession were three knot-tied plastic bags of suspected shabu, one pouch, and P50,000 in buy-bust money, including one genuine P1,000 bill and 49 boodle bills.
The total seized drugs weighed approximately 100 grams with a standard drug price of P680,000, the police said.
On the same day in Victorias City, alias “Conrado,” 44, married, jobless, and a resident of Site 3, Block 16, Yolanda Housing, Brgy. 13, was arrested by Victorias City Police Station operatives in another buy-bust operation.
The suspect was caught after handing over one heat-sealed plastic sachet of suspected shabu to a police poseur-buyer.
Recovered from his possession were five heat-sealed sachets and two knot-tied sachets of suspected shabu, an improvised tooter with residue, P500 marked money, and other non-drug items. The total confiscated drugs weighed about 51 grams with an estimated value of P346,800.
The confiscated drug evidence was submitted to the Negros Occidental Provincial Forensic Unit for laboratory examination.
The suspects are now under police custody and will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.*
