The lifeless body of a ferry passenger was recovered off Sipaway Island in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on Thursday, April 30.
The Negros Occidental Maritime Police Station said they responded after receiving a report from a concerned citizen and coordinated with the San Carlos City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Philippine Coast Guard San Carlos, and Bantay Dagat.
Authorities said the victim allegedly fell from Lite Shipping Ferry 1, which was traveling from San Carlos Port to Toledo Port in Cebu.
The search and retrieval team found the body floating in the seawater about 50 meters from the shoreline of Sipaway Island, in front of Whispering Palm Resort.
The victim’s relatives were informed after the recovery.*
