Valentine’s Day ended in tragedy for a Negrense who had just celebrated his birthday with his girlfriend.
Ryan Villanueva, 33, was shot to death at a resort in Barangay Tibsok, San Enrique, Negros Occidental, early today, February 14.
Villanueva along with his girlfriend and friends celebrated his birthday at the resort yesterday, February 13.
Maj. Renante Salgado, San Enrique Police chief, said five unidentified suspects, who wore bonnets and jackets, stormed into the room of the victim at the resort, escorted his girlfriend out, and shot him multiple times.
The victim died on the spot, while 28 fired cartridges of a .45 caliber pistol were recovered from the scene.
Salgado said that the police recovered marijuana seeds and drug paraphernalia at the scene of the crime.
In Sipalay City, 30-year-old Bonnen Garcia was gunned down in Barangay Maricalum on February 12.
The victim was walking to Maricalum proper when he was shot by the suspect on board a black motorcycle, the police reported.
The victim sustained three gunshot wounds and was brought to the Sipalay infirmary but was declared dead on arrival.
Recovered from the crime scene were two empty shells of a .9 mm firearm.
In Kabakalan City, 59-year-old Rodney Magbanua was found dead by his brother at a creek in Barangay Inapoy on February 12.
Based on the police report, the victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds while two fired cartridges of a 9mm firearm were found at the scene.
Police have yet to establish the motives for the killings.*
