Mayor Evelio “Bing” Leonardia, former Rep. Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez and some private groups have provided assistance to the fire victims at Purok San Jose, Barangay Alijis in Bacolod City.
Leonardia and Benitez are expected to both run for mayor of Bacolod City in May 2022.
The fire broke out on Sunday afternoon, August 15, destroying 11 houses and damaging two, which affected 17 families.
Leonardia, who visited the fire victims Tuesday night, August 17, had immediately ordered the Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office and the Department of Social Services and Development to attend to the needs of the affected families, such as providing them food packs, hygiene kits, and other supplies, a press release from his office said.
The DSSD also conducted a psychological debriefing for the fire victims on Tuesday.
Team Albee also provided P5,000 each to the families affected by the fire on Monday.
The Rotary Club of Bacolod and the Amity Volunteer Fire Brigade also gave out food packs to the fire victims.*
