Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco will arrive in Negros Occidental for the Western Visayas Philippine Experience culture, heritage and arts caravan Wednesday, Nov. 29.
Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said he will present to her the push to make food tourism in Bacolod a priority, to determine what kind of collaboration the city can have with the Department of Tourism.
The aim is to promote Bacolod as the slow food destination in Asia, he said.
Benitez said he will also discuss funding for the Bacolod City Government Center and Public Plaza fountains and lights project with Frasco.
About P300 million will be needed for the project, he said.
Frasco on her arrival Wednesday morning will be taken on a tour of the Silay City Heritage Zone, given a slow food experience at Casa Gamboa, to be followed by a tour of Hawaiian- Philippine Co. also in Silay.
She will have lunch at the Bantug Lake Ranch in Bacolod City, , join a reception at the Bacolod City Government Center, and will visit the Orange Project and Art Gallery and the Association of Negros Producers showroom.
A Governor’s Ball will be held at the Negros Occidental Capitol Social Hall in the evening.*
